Our program philosophy is all about Fun! At Lake Bonavista Community Association, Soccer is a developmental program which means no scores or standings are kept, this allows the players to learn and understand the game without the competition. The coaches use positive motivation to teach the basic rules of the game: no hands, tripping, pushing or hitting; good sportsmanship; concept of the field and its boundaries; concepts of “our goal” and “their goal”; concepts of “attacking” and “defending”. We encourage parental involvement!

LBCA uses the Mini-Soccer format (which takes soccer education techniques from “TimBits Coaches Kit” produced by the CMSA). The game is played and taught as a three on three format, there are no goal keepers, and no penalties for rule violations, just explanations. The coaches play the role of educators. This format allows the chance to introduce the basic rules of the game, to touch the ball often, and have all the players actively involved in the game. LBCA believes in the coaching theory “let the game be the teacher”

We encourage our U10 and older players to register with the Calgary Foothills Soccer Club or Parkland Community Association.
