SOCCER

Program Philosophy

SoccerFun! Lake Bonavista Soccer is a developmental program. No scores or standings are kept. Coaches are to use positive motivation to teach the basic rules of the game: no hands, tripping, pushing or hitting; good sportsmanship; concept of the field and its boundaries; concepts of "our goal" and "their goal"; concepts of "attacking" and "defending". Encourage parental involvement.

Mini-Soccer format (from "TimBits Coaches Kit" produced by the CMSA). Small sided game (3 players) on a small field. Lots of touches of the ball. Introduce the basic rules of the game. All players actively involved in the game. Coaching theory "let the game be the teacher". Soccer triangle (basic concept of soccer). No goalkeepers. Coaches play the role of educators - no penalties for rule violations, just explanations.

We encourage our U10 and older players to register with the Calgary Foothills Soccer Club or Parkland Community Association.

Indoor Soccer

Indoor Soccer is now done for the season. Next session will be Fall 2017. Registration opens August 1, 2017

Did you love the outdoor season? Here is your chance to continue playing the great game of soccer. We will have our own league, and each day will consist of a short practice and a game.

All soccer will be in the gymnasium at the Lake Bonavista Recreation Centre.

Outdoor Soccer

Outdoor Soccer runs from the end of April until the end of June each year, weather permitting. All games and practices are at Lake Bonavista Elementary School (1015 - 120 Ave SE) on dates indicated for each group. Players will also have to provide a $50 volunteer deposit, which will be returned at the end of the year if the volunteer requirements have been met. Participants will receive a jersey and socks to keep, as well as a team picture and medal. Wind up party June 21st, 2017
